The Southern Vales Practical Shooting League welcomes new members.
Members who will:
- Respect the priviledge extended by the wider community to be holders and users of firearms;
- Use those firearms safely and in compliance with the IPSC Rules and the State laws.
How to become a member?
- Your first step is to apply to Firearms Branch for a Firearms Licence, and they will issue an Approval to Train - make sure you are applying for a H-Class Firearms License (handgun) to be endorsed for Club Use. Tick the boxes for Club Use rifle and shotgun if you want those included on your Licence and they will be added to your Training Programme.
- When you get your Approval to Train, catch up with our Head Trainer. She will go over the Training programme with you and allocate a volunteer Trainer and schedule your inclusion in a training slot.
- The Head Trainer will ask you to complete an Application and Risk Waiver, as well as taking the fees for Training and Joining so you can go on to training.
- The Training Course focuses on safety, safety, safety. It is not about skill, competency, ability or speed. That comes later. It is about safety, safety, safety.
- All applicants will be interviewed by the Head Trainer and unless you are already IPSC and holster trained, the Club requires the Head Trainer to conduct an assessment of your safe gun handling and IPSC commands at the least - or she may decide you will have to enter the full training course.
- After successfully completing Training, paid your fees, you will then be notified to the Members at a General meeting for induction as a Member.
- Then you must Join IPSC and SSAA.
Please contact us to find out more or come down to the Range on Saturday mornings and introduce yourself.
